The Schengen Information System (SIS) is a large-scale IT system, managed by eu-LISA, which supports public security and the exchange of information on persons and objects between national law enforcement, border control, customs, visa and judicial authorities. Schengen is the world’s largest area without internal borders, allowing some 400 million citizens, as well as travellers from third countries, to move freely.
