Description
Mawnan Park, formerly known as Mawnan Junior Playing Field, is a community recreation space on Carwinion Road, next to Mawnan Bowling Club. The park can be reached from Carwinion Road and by footpaths from Shute Hill and Grove Hill. Its current play equipment includes a roundabout, two swings, a trim trail and a climbing fort. In January of 2026, the old zip wire was removed following safety inspections because it had reached the end of its usable life, with a replacement included in this stage. Mawnan Parish Council has been working diligently with the community to raise funds towards significant improvements at the site, with a confirmed budget to implement this initial phase. This is a significant component of the overall objective, detailed in the Mawnan Park Masterplan. The aim is to deliver the entirety of proposed plan within this document over several stages, which will be determined by achieving the required funding targets. This will be the first major investment in the playground for around 25 years and will begin the next chapter in the park's development. It will not deliver the full masterplan, so fundraising will continue for later phases, including further play equipment, accessible paths and seating. The Council is seeking a suitably qualified contractor to consider the tender documents and provide a tender response for this initial stage by the due date. Details of the requirements are set out in Appendix A. Please review all documentation and advise your interest to the Procurement Contact asap.
